Globus Basel is more than a place to shop - it’s part of the city’s identity. A space to dream, meet, and enjoy the fine things that make life a little better. For three years, the people of Basel had to wait for “their” Globus to return. While the historic façade from 1904 remains, everything inside has been newly designed under the direction of Basel architects Miller & Maranta and the Globus Store Design Team. For us at HearDis!, this meant a blank canvas to create a cohesive audio concept for the department store of the future.


Custom Soundtrack
Each floor of Globus Basel tells its own story. Interior design, color schemes and visual concepts introduce customers to a new world on every level.
The home accessory department looks and feels different from the Beauty Studio or the Delictessa - and with the HearDis! music profiles, visitors can experience these worlds sonically as well.
Our music selections complement the identity of each department, not only through content, styles or genres, but also through dynamics and energy. Together with the Globus team, we developed six distinct music profiles tailored to the clientele, the store teams and the specific character of each floor. Timings, mood variations, and energy curves are carefully planned to support the store’s daily rhythm. These profiles can be assigned dynamically - a key feature of the new Basel flagship.
And just like Globus itself, our soundtracks never stand still: they grow and evolve over time, continuously refined by feedback from the teams on site and our shared experience.

Custom Soundtrack
A customer browsing the fashion floors on a Tuesday morning for the latest viral accessory has different expectations than someone shopping for a weekend dinner in the Deli on a Friday evening.
Our profiles and scheduling software take these contexts into account, creating Custom Soundtracks tailored precisely to each department and moment. The result: immersive audible worlds that amplify the identity of each space.
Innovative Audio Technology
To bring a concept of this scale to life, the audio system behind it needs maximum flexibility. For Globus Basel, we collaborated once again with NewTec, one of the leading providers of professional retail audio systems.
A total of 200 speaker components, finished in custom RAL colours, deliver exceptional sound across all floors. Each audio zone can be fine-tuned individually to create the ideal experience for its environment and ensures consistent sound performance at every point of the customer journey.
And because Basel knows how to celebrate, we integrated a DJ booth directly into the system: For special events, DJs can perform live throughout the store, with their sets fed directly into the audio system - no temporary speakers, no technical compromises, everything managed via our Cloud-based solution.
